Vision

The Invitation to connect with nature continues

As stated by founder, David Shakarian, "I never worked a day in my life. It’s not work when you love what you’re doing."

Today, nearly thirty years later, the community is immersed on its final development, aptly named, Omega, and residents are truly in love with their surroundings. One supreme aspect of the community's original “vision” was for residents to live in harmony with nature.

We are certain, our founder would be gratified by the grand efforts made on his behalf; his vision has come to fruition and is being lived on full display on a daily basis - residents and nature connecting in unison.

The Vision of Environmental Stewardship Continues

As the saying goes, “Bonita Bay” wasn’t built in a day. Rather, it has taken nearly four decades to reach this lofty plateau. With no plans to slow down, our momentum forward continues with vigor and vim – and the core philosophies that have brought our current success remain cornerstones of our original framework. After all, balancing responsible development within an environmentally sensitive matrix is the basis for everyday living at Bonita Bay. The world may move very quickly around us – but thankfully - not within us.

Core customs and Best Practices Set the Standard

Nestled between Spring Creek to the north, the Imperial River to the south, and Estero Bay to the west, the most unique natural aspect of the community is the slough that runs the length of the property – from north to south – a rarity not usually found inside a residential development.

Bonita Bay became the region’s first site to share innovative water conservation practices; land management traditionally limits pesticide and herbicide use to preserve, rather than disturb, nature’s life-cycle. By limiting use of chemicals, ground and surface water contamination is avoided, which is essential with water bodies that flow directly into the Gulf of Mexico.

Although our journey began over 30 years ago, Bonita Bay continues to honor the delicate ecological balancing act between flora, fauna and human inhabitants; striving to sustain best environmental practices. We are proud to be recipients of numerous prestigious awards, most recently five employees were honored with the Phoenix Award by the Bonita Springs Fire and Rescue for initiating CPR skills to save the life of a colleague.
